Periodontal Therapy

At the office of Dr. Fary Yassamy, we take your overall health very seriously.  While it is important to have a nice smile, it is more important to have teeth and a bite that function correctly.  Researchers are finding that there is a link between your oral health and serious health problems, such as heart disease, diabetes, cancer, and stroke.

We offer periodontal therapy to give you the best oral health possible.  Our comprehensive dental approach looks to restore the connection between your oral health and general body health.

Periodontal Disease

Periodontal disease, also known as gum disease, causes red and swollen gums.  This can indicate that the tissues and bone that hold teeth in place may be destroyed.  Periodontal disease is a major cause of tooth loss.

Gingivitis is the state of periodontal disease where the biofilm, the sticky softplaque, causes the gums to bleed and release toxins into the bloodstream. Periodontitis is more serious because the biofilm spreads below the   in the pockets, the space that is formed when gum tissue pulls away from the teeth.

If you believe you have periodontitis, contact the office and we’ll schedule an appointment to have you visit our experienced periodontist.

What Dr. Yassamy Can Do

In addition to creating beautiful smiles through cosmetic dental solutions, we are committed to improving your dental health.

In the early stages of periodontal disease, treatment includes scaling and root planing to remove biofilm and tartar below the gum line.  Prevention includes a good daily oral hygiene routine which may entail brushing twice a day with fluoride toothpaste, cleaning between your teeth with floss or an irrigator, and using a special mouth rinse that has been shown to oxidize harmful bacteria.

Dr. Yassamy and her team of dental professionals recommend the Oxyfresh products to support and maintain your periodontal health and your cosmetic dentistry, as well as provide for longer lasting fresh breath.
